In two separate incidents, in different localities under Ngqeleni policing precinct, two stolen vehicles were recovered, with one partly stripped and an unlicensed firearm recovered from a 34-year-old suspect in another incident on yesterday 31 July 2024.
Members from Mthatha Flying Squad and K9 units responded to an incident of a bakkie that was stolen in Qhasa locality during a house robbery and being spotted in Sazinge Locality, Ngqeleni on Tuesday, 30 July 2024 at about 15:45. The Toyota bakkie was partially stripped and no one was arrested and the bakkie was impounded by police. Outside a nearby scrapyard, police circulated a Nissan bakkie which positively showed that it was stolen in Flagstaff and was also impounded.
On investigation, police recovered an unlicensed firearm at Ngqeleni and a 34-year-old suspect was arrested
The suspect is due to appear at Ngqeleni Magistrate court tomorrow, 02 August 2024.
