On Saturday 03 August 2024, Hawks members from Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation arrested a 30-year-old suspect for murder and possession of stolen motor vehicle at Mayville.
On Saturday 04 November 2023, Sergeant Goba from Durban K9 Unit was shot and killed at Quarry road in Phantas hill. A case of murder was opened at Mayville police station. The case docket was allocated to the Hawks members from Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation.
An intensive Investigation was conducted by the Hawks. On Saturday 03 August 2024, two suspects aged between 30 and 39 years were found driving a white Toyota Etios that was stolen. They were placed under arrest and charged with possession of stolen motor vehicle. Initial investigation revealed that a 30-year-old suspect, is a wanted suspect in a case of sergeant Goba murder.
He was further charged with murder. They are expected to appear before Durban Magistrate’s court, On Monday 5 august 2024.
The KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head, Major General (Dr) Lesetja Senona commended and applauded the members for the good work.
