Bakkie for hire hijacked in Amouti

A 28 year old man was hijacked after two males hired his vehicle to transport furniture to Empangeni – KZN.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance at approximately 15:04 after the driver flagged down a passerby on Jabu Ngcobo Road near Tea Estate – KZN for assistance. On arrival, Reaction Officers met with the victim.

Two men approached him today (Friday) in Empangeni and requested his services to transport a bed and fridge from Amouti – KZN back to the northern KwaZulu Natal town. They proceeded with the victim to the agreed location approximately 160 kilometres away.

On arrival, both men exited the bakkie and were joined by two other individuals. They produced firearms and forced the victim back into the white Kia 2.7 bakkie.

They drove him to Jabu Ngcobo Road in Tea Estate – KZN where they robbed him of his cellphone and wallet before they bound his hands and dumped him in a dense bush. The four suspects thereafter sped off in his vehicle.

The victim was not injured.
