As part of ongoing efforts to break the back of the seemingly lucrative drug trade in the Western Cape, police members arrested a suspect when he was found in possession of heroin on Monday 12 August 2024.
Police members attached to Operation Restore were busy with crime combatting activities in Philippi Park at about 19:50 when they noticed a suspicious man, walking in their direction. The members followed the man on foot and apprehended him. Upon searching him, the members found and confiscating 70 units filled with heroin.
They detained the 23-year-old man for possession of drugs.
Once charged the suspect is expected to make a court appearance in the Athlone Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charge.
