Three suspects arrested for cases of housebreaking and robbery in Maake and Mookgopong

Limpopo police joint operations have achieved significant success with the recent arrest of three suspects in separate incidents at Maake in Mopani district, and Mookgopong Naboomspruit policing area in Waterberg district. The suspects face charges of business robbery, housebreaking and theft, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and possession of suspected stolen properties.

In the first incident, a police officer’s house in Mookgopong was broken into on 15 August, with suspects stealing various items. The officer swiftly arrested a 24-year-old suspect on the same day, recovering some stolen properties. An intelligence-driven operation led to the arrest of the second suspect (25) on 19 August, with the assistance of private Security Company, and the recovery of the remaining stolen properties.

In another incident, the Mopani Tracking Team and Tactical Response Team (TRT) arrested a 33-year-old suspect on 20 August, linked to two business robberies in Maake. The suspect attempted to evade arrest but was apprehended after a chase. A pallet gun was recovered nearby.

The suspects in Mookgopong, Naboomspruit policing area, Alouis Muguti (25) and Patson Sibanda (23), appeared in the local Magistrate’s Court on charges of housebreaking and theft and possession of presumed stolen properties. They were remanded in custody until 23 August 2024 for a formal bail application.

The suspect in Maake is scheduled to appear before the local Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 22 August, on charges of house robberies and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commended the exceptional investigative skills and dedication to combating crime in the province.
