Coordinated illegal immigrant operation with immigration authorities

Yesterday, our Durban Metro Police Service team conducted a significant operation targeting illegal immigration and unlawful employment practices within the CBD. The operation focused on two factory shops located on Short Street.

As a result of our efforts:
– 02 factory owners were arrested for knowingly hiring undocumented workers.
– 32 illegal immigrants were detained for being in the country without proper documentation.

This operation is part of a broader initiative to curb illegal activities within the EThekwini Municipality CBDs, where many factory shops have become hotspots for employing undocumented individuals. We are intensifying our efforts and will continue to conduct these operations daily to ensure compliance with immigration laws and protect legal employment opportunities.

We remain committed to upholding the law and maintaining the integrity of our community.
