An integrated operation led to the arrest two wanted suspects in Gauteng

An integrated, intelligence driven operation led to the arrest of two males who are suspected to be involved in more than thirty (30) crimes that include car hijacking, robbery with a firearm, theft of motor vehicle and possession of suspected stolen property.

The suspects were arrested in Olivenhoutbosch, Tshwane, on Thursday 29 August 2024 by a team comprising of South African Police Service (SAPS) Highway Patrol Unit in Gauteng, Crime Intelligence as well as Tracker Connect and CAP Specialised Operations.

The team received information about suspects who have been committing crimes in Gauteng and neighbouring provinces, using a Toyota Corolla. As the team was on the lookout for the suspects, they spotted a car that matched the description given, travelling on R55 in Olivenhoutbosch. The car with two occupants was immediately stopped and searched. Suspected stolen property, car jamming device, and various cellphones were found in the car. The preliminary investigation revealed that the car was fitted with false registration plates and was reported stolen. It was established that the suspects were wanted for various crimes that include robbery with a firearm, car hijacking, theft of motor vehicle, fraud and possession of suspected stolen property.

The two arrested suspects are expected to appear before Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 02 September 2024.
