The Kimberley Magistrates Court recently convicted and sentenced Kevin Steenkamp (33), to 15 years direct prison sentence for aggressively robbing an elderly woman in Kimberley.
On 01 November 2023 at approximately 17:00, the 62-year-old victim was on her way to church when she was accosted and robbed of her handbag and jewelry by the accused at knife-point, on the corner of Fuller Street in West End, Kimberley.
The Provincial Commissioner of the Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, commended Detective Warrant Officer Joe Vink of the Kimberley SAPS Detectives for his meticulous investigation and the community for their role in apprehending the accused. She reiterated that crimes against women, children, and vulnerable groups remains a priority, and related incidents will be thoroughly and vigorously investigated.
