The vigilance of members of the Delft Crime Prevention Unit led to the arrests of three suspects for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition in the early hours of Sunday morning, 01 September 2024.
The members responded to a shooting incident at about 00:15 in Delft South, where one person was wounded. A description of the vehicle that was used in the shooting was given. At about 03:00 the members spotted the vehicle and pulled it over. They ensued with a search of the vehicle and the occupants during which they found a .38 Special revolver with ammunition and subsequently arrested three adult males.
They will appear in the Bellville Magistrates’ court once they have been charged.
In an unrelated matter members of Operation Restore searched a premises in Ledge Street, Tafelsig, Mitchell’s Plain on Friday and confiscated 50 packets containing crystal meth that was found in the house. A 36-year-old male was arrested for the possession of crystal meth.
He will appear in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrates’ court on Monday.
