The Eastern Cape Deptartment Transport has converged in Port Alfred for its annual 2-day Departmental Strategy session

The Eastern Cape Deptartment Transport has converged in Port Alfred for its annual 2-day Departmental Strategy session.

In his political address, MEC Xolile Nqatha touched upon several issues that should be focused on by ECDoT as it builds on the 6th Administration’s key pillars into the 7th Administration.

Issues such as Scholar Transport, Ocean’s Economy, resuscitation of rail, job creation, and working with stakeholders to curb the “construction mafia” that affects departmental construction projects.

“The 7th administration requires us to move with agility to render services to our people. The department is at the centre of the economic rejuvenation for the Province hence laziness and slow pace in service delivery cannot be tolerated.”

Acting HoD Andile Fani spoke on administrative issues.

“We need officials that are ready to implement and shape the department and be deliberate in appointing minority groups such women and persons with disabilities.”

Stakeholders in attendance include the EC Office of Premier, National Department of Transport, SANRAL, Africa’s Best 350 (AB350), Mayibuye Transport Corporation, Stats SA, and NAFCOC, and labour unions among many others to help ECDoT create an efficient, safe, sustainable, affordable & accessible transport system.
