An eighteen (18) year-old teenager was nabbed after he allegedly strangled an elderly woman (91) to death, and attempted to kill her daughter at Ncokazi locality in Bityi on Friday, 13 September 2024.
The information in police records indicate that on Friday, 13 September 2024 around 02:00, the male suspect attacked the elderly woman while she was asleep in her bedroom, and he then proceeded to the second bedroom, where he attacked the second victim, the daughter of the deceased.
It is further said that the struggle between the two ensued, and the suspect managed to flee. The victim immediately summoned her neighbours for assistance. The suspect is known to the victim, and local residents started searching the neighbourhood and found him.
The elderly woman (91), was declared dead at the scene, and the suspect was arrested and charged for murder, with an additional charge of attempted murder. He is due to appear in the Bityi Magistrate’s court on Monday, 16 September 2024, to face charges of murder and attempted murder.
