Uncle stabbed during drunken dispute in Waterloo

A man is in a critical condition after he bled extensively from two stab wounds sustained during an altercation with his nephew on Celery Road in Waterloo – KZN.

Neighbours contacted the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre at approximately 15:09 (Monday) requesting assistance. Initial reports from the scene indicated that one person had been shot. The caller was unable to provide any further information.

Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and on arrival noticed a man with blood stained shoes attempting to flee the yard. Officers apprehended and restrained him. Other RUSA Members approached the residence and found a
second individual lying in a pool of blood.

RUSA Paramedics were summoned to the scene to stabilise and expedite the critically injured man to hospital. He sustained two deep stab wounds to his right hand. A knife used in the stabbing was located in the kitchen sink. Both the suspect and the injured male were heavily intoxicated.

The suspect informed Reaction Officers that the injured male is his uncle. He further explained that they were consuming alcohol when an argument ensued.

He then stabbed his uncle in a fit of rage.
