An intelligence driven Operation Vala Umgodi led to the recovery of scores of ammunition of different high calibre firearms in Glenharvie, Kloof No1, West Rand, on Sunday, 13 October 2024.
Members of crime intelligence in West Rand received information about illegal miners who were in possession of ammunition. The Operation Vala Umgodi team was activated, operationalised the information and pounced on the illegal miners. As the suspects saw the police approaching, they ran away on foot and left behind live ammunition and plastic cover of a raw copper cable.
The ammunition consists of:
– 372 Rifle live ammunition,
– 7 Ak47 live ammunition,
– 1 .308 live ammunition and
– 1 Nosler live ammunition
