Police recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested the involved suspect along N1 freeway near Mokopane

The Flying Squad team from both Waterberg and Capricorn District 9arrested one suspect aged 54 for possession of suspected hijacked motor vehicle, on Sunday 13 October 2024, along the N1 North between Kranskop and Nyl plazas.

Information at our disposal suggest that members were on patrol duties when they spotted a suspicious white Toyota Fortuner. They tactically approached it and the driver was alone in the vehicle.

Upon conducting the preliminary investigations, it was established that the vehicle was reported stolen at Garsfontein in Gauteng Province during October 2024. The vehicle was intended to be smuggled through the Beit Bridge Border to Zimbabwe.

The suspect was then immediately placed under arrest.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant, General Thembi Hadebe has commended the members involved in the arrest following the swift recovery of the stolen vehicle.

The suspect aged 54 will appear before Mokopane Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 15 October 2024.

The police investigations will continue.
