The vigilance of Soshanguve Vispol members resulted in the discovery of number of magazines and firearms on 15 October 2024.
It is reported that the members were conducting their normal patrols along Mokefe Makinta Highway when they stopped vehicle with three occupants inside. The vehicle was searched, whereby two sealed boxes were found and upon opening them the following were found more than 100 magazines for different firearms, packets of spring trigger mesh, riffle grip, gas tube, bolt carrier and slim electric ear muffs. All these were seized and three suspects arrested.
A case of possession of suspected stolen property and possession of unlicensed firearms is opened for further investigations and the suspects are expected to appear before court soon.
The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni has commended the members for their vigilance and further encouraged them to continue working hard in removing illegal firearms from the wrong hands.
