An intelligence driven operation at Dontsa and Mangwaneni locality in Ngqeleni on Wednesday, 16 October 2024, led to the arrest of an 18-year-old teenager for possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.
Police followed information about a man in possession of a suspected stolen vehicle and they spotted the vehicle in the locality. When the suspect saw police he tried to run away and was apprehended. Police searched the vehicle and discovered that it had no license disc and proceeded to the house where they recovered suspected stolen properties (Radio system, speakers, laptop, police trouser and rifle and revolver live ammunition.
In a separate incident in Mthatha, K9 Unit followed information about a suspected stolen vehicle at Tracor Residential area in Thabo Mbeki Administrative area and on arrival they recovered an Isuzu bakkie with false registration plates. On investigation they found out that the vehicle was stolen at Ugie. The bakkie was loaded with 10 goats and 03 sheep suspected to be stolen and Mthatha stock theft unit was summoned to the scene.
On further investigation they searched the house, and recovered the vehicle keys and a 9mm pistol with an erased serial number. Suspect was not arrested as he was not in the house, however investigation is continuing.
