Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit received a call for a house fire in the Lynnwood Glen area in Pretoria East.
On arrival, we found an abandoned house, that had been taken over by vagrants, on fire. Our team initiated a search of the house and property, making sure no lives were in danger. City of Tshwane Firefighters arrived and quickly extinguished the fire.
As per some residents, the fire was started after a person burned electrical cables. Armed reaction officers detained the suspect and handed them over to SAPS, who will be investigating the incident with City of Tshwane Fire investigators.
No injuries were reported on scene.
