Minenhle Makhaye – the SAPS constable accused of fraud and other charges over using a bank card of a hijack victim to buy liquor – is back in court this morning.
This is the continuation of his bail application.
Last week, Warrant Officer Sivan Naidoo – a Hawks detective – told the court they were not ruling out the possibility of Makhaye being linked to the hijackers who drove over and killed 11-year-old Zarah Ramsamy in September.
Makhaye was also found with 272 bank cards, some of which were stolen during the 2021 July unrest.
Some of those cards were taken from Absa at Bridge City in KwaMashu, a branch which suffered R1.3-million in damages at the time.
Others were taken from African Bank in the same mall.
A police radio – not issued to him – was also found in his possession on the day of his arrest last month. @eNCA
