Three suspects heading to court for the possession of unlicensed and prohibited firearms and ammunition

Two males and a female are expected to appear in court following their arrest on Sunday 27 October 2024 when they were found in possession of unlicensed and prohibited firearms and ammunition in isolated incidents.

Police members of Delft Crime Prevention Unit responded to a complaint in Tamarisk Court where a male sustained fatal injuries. Upon their arrival, the police members came under fire when they operationalised and tactically approached the suspects. They followed a suspicious woman, searched her and in the process recovered a .38 special revolver with ammunition in her possession. They detained the 19-year-old woman for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.

In an unrelated incident Kraaifontein police conducted disruptive stop and search operations in Wallacedene in Maroela Street when they were alerted about two suspects robbing people at gunpoint. The police members spotted the two males who fitted the description, gave chase and apprehended one of the suspects. They searched him and found a 9mm pistol in his possession. They detained the adult male for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Meanwhile Police members of Public Order Police were busy with crime combatting initiatives in Lower Cross Roads when they saw a suspicious teenager who appeared to be very nervous. The police members approached the young man, searched him and confiscated a pistol with ammunition. They detained the 16-year-old man for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.

Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Bellville, Blue Downs and Athlone Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charges.
