Police in KwaZulu-Natal have arrested eight suspects after they were found in possession of firearms and police uniform during a swift intelligence-driven operation at Jozini Town on Thursday afternoon, 7 November 2024.
Police received a tip-off from a member of the public about a suspicious vehicle with eight occupants which was doing the rounds in town. The tip-off was operationalised and a swift stop and search operation was executed. The vehicle fitting the description as explained by the vigilant resident was spotted at Jozini Town and was stopped by police.
Upon searching the vehicle, police found three firearms whose serial numbers were filed off, several rounds of ammunition as well as pieces of police uniform, including a bullet resistant vest. The serial number of the bullet resistant vest indicated that it belongs to police in Vryburg, North West Province. The suspects’ vehicle was also seized for further investigations.
The suspects, aged between 29 and 55 years old will appear in court soon.
