Two women who drugged and robbed a 75-year-old pensioner in Riet River – KZN have been tracked down and arrested by Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA).
Reaction Officers began tracking the women after the man welcomed twofemales into his home last (8/11/2024) Friday. The females offered to make him tea after they entered his home. The man woke up several hours later to find his house ransacked. Cash, three mobile phones, easternwear, several pairs of branded shoes & other valuables were taken. The woman were captured on CCTV entering and leaving the area. They wore face masks to conceal their identity.
Reaction Officers acting on information found one of the suspects at her home in Chatsworth – KZN. After keeping observation, the female was arrested in Unit 11 – Montford. When interviewed, the 39 year old woman said that she had accompanied a friend to the residence and noticed the man became incoherent after drinking the tea. She added that they left the residence with three bags of the stolen goods after her friend exited the elderly man’s bedroom. She was unaware that he had passed out. The woman offered to point out the home of her accomplice.
Reaction Officers then travelled to Phoenix – KZN and located a 47-year-old female at a creche in Sunford (picture 16). When interviewed, the woman informed Reaction Officers that the valuables taken from the robbery was given to a friend of her teenage son. She further added that she had befriended the pensioner on Facebook & had boarded an Uber to his home on Friday expecting to be compensated for the visit.
Both suspects were handed over to the South African Police Services (SAPS) & are currently in detention on Verulam Cas 196/11/2024.
