Combat and Proactive teams deployed for Operation Vala Umgodi in the Free State continue to sweep through drug posts and hotspots to eradicate crime.
The operation started by visiting drug posts in Kutlwanong Location near Odendaalsrus. An identified target house was searched and 78 full Methaqualone Mandrax tablets and Tik was recovered from a pit bull kennel. The total street value of the seized drugs is estimated at R4 700.00. Two suspects, aged 28 and 42, were then arrested and a case of dealing in drugs was opened at Odendaalsrus Police Station.
The operation was extended to Maokeng in Kroonstad. A male, aged 43, was found in possession of presumed stolen property; copper cable. A case of tampering and damaging of essential infrastructure was opened at Kroonstad Police Station and the suspect was detained in police custody.
The teams returned to Thabong near Welkom to execute warrants for arrest orders. Teboho Lebina, aged 30, who is wanted by for possession of suspected gold bearing material and processing equipment was arrested at G-Hostel.
All suspects will appear before Court soon.
