Joint crime combating and prevention operations between Operation Vala Umgodi role-players continues in Free State Province.
Members of the South African Police Service and South African National Defence Force executed various operational concepts in the borderline areas in Ficksburg. During a Vehicle Check Point on R26 Provincial Road, a White Toyota Hino truck was stopped and inspection was conducted on paperwork and the livestock load.
The members discovered that the livestock, mostly of Bonsmara breed, had different brand marks. The Stock Theft Unit from Ladybrand arrested the 47-year-old driver for suspected stock theft.
A case of possession of suspected stolen livestock was opened at Ficksburg police station. The suspect will appear in court soon.
