The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the arrest of four suspects who are believed to be behind incidents of ATM bombings in the Province. The arrests were effected in the morning of Saturday, 30 November 2024
Reports indicates that members of Limpopo Provincial Tracking Team, Provincial Investigation Unit and SAPS Explosive Unit, arrested four suspects aged between 33 and 45 for conspiracy to commit crime, possession of prohibited firearms, possession of prohibited ammunition and contravention of explosives act.
These arrests come after a spate of ATM bombings in some parts of the province.
The four suspects were arrested at Sephukubje village in the Sekgosese policing area, subsequent to information about the suspects who planned to commit ATM bombings in Tzaneen.
During the arrest, the police recovered items such as 03 x Ruger 44 rifles, 40 x live ammunitions, 3 x Expolgel explosives, a number of blasting cartridges explosives, balaclavas and handgloves, among others.
The SAPS Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has welcomed the arrests and further praised the collaboration between the teams that resulted in the arrests and confiscation of the above-mentioned items.
The suspects will appear before Sekgosese Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 02 December 2024 facing charges of conspiracy to commit crime, contravention of explosives Act, possession of prohibited firearms and possession of prohibited ammunition.
