Two Mozambican nationals arrested after a farm attack whereby a woman was murdered

Members of the Detective Services from Lydenburg SAPS made a significant breakthrough in a case involving the murder of a 41-year-old woman, identified by her family as Vinolia Sedibe, during a farm attack on Monday, 02 December 2024. As a result, two Mozambican nationals, aged 34 and 47, were arrested today (03 December 2024) in connection with the incident.

Their arrest emanates from an incident whereby two suspects stormed into a farmhouse, held two females hostage, and staged a house robbery.

Tragically, one of the females was strangled thereafter her body was discovered in the nearby bushes.

However the quick response and investigation by the Police Detectives led to the swift apprehension of the suspects.

The two male suspects are expected to appear at the Mashishing Magistrate’s Court soon and they will face a charge of murder, house robbery, attempted rape and other related offences.

Meanwhile the Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, has condemned the farm attack and expressed his gratitude to the men and women in Blue as well as members of the public for their assistance with information in the case. “It is deeply concerning that such a heinous crime occurred during the 16 days of activism for no violence against women and children but we are encouraged that the suspects were apprehended, ” said the General.
