Operation Shanela conducted in Sedibeng District in Orange Farm

A multidisciplinary team of law enforcement agencies conducted Operation Shanela last night, 07 December 2024, in Sedibeng District in Orange Farm policing precinct.

The first phase of Operation Shanela started with an overnight suspects raiding which has resulted in the arrest of 799 suspects for crimes ranging from murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, assault GBH and common assault including 156 suspects arrested for crimes committed against women and children.

Last night, the Sedibeng Acting District Commissioner, Brig Sibongile Ndaba, Provincial Head: Organised Crime, Brigadier Cynthia Gopane, Orange farm Station Commander, Brigadier Masole Manamela led from the front at a roadblock held at Golden Highway in Sedibeng District where more than 56 suspects have been arrested for different crimes that include contravening the Immigration Act, possession of firearm, possession of drugs and drunk and driving. Fines have also been issued for contravening the Road Traffic Act and one vehicle has been discontinued.

The team also conducted compliance inspections and closed down 3 illegal shebeens for non-compliance. Liquor seized.
