On Tuesday, 10 December 2024, Crime Prevention team from SAPS Germiston conducted a Vehicle Check Point (VCP) operation, resulting in the arrest of a 48-year-old suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm and two stolen vehicles.
During the operation, the suspect’s vehicle, a white Etios, was stopped and searched, revealing a discrepancy in the vehicle’s license disc and registration. The driver attempted to bribe the police officials and a further search led to the recovery of an unlicensed pistol with 16 live rounds of ammunition.
A subsequent search of the suspect’s residence uncovered another stolen vehicle, a silver Toyota Yaris, and 18 live rounds of ammunition.
