Habitual burglar arrested in Southridge

A habitual burglar was injured after he jumped from a third floor window in an attempt to evade being apprehended by First Responders in Southridge – KZN.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre received a tip off of a burglary in progress on Primrose Drive. Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and on arrival met with members from Dev Security.

It was confirmed that the suspect gained entry through a window and was still in the house. Officers were in the process of entering the home through the damaged window when the suspect attempted to flee by jumping out of a third floor window. He sustained injuries to both his legs after landing several on a concrete floor several metres below the window at the rear of the property.

The homeowner arrived shortly thereafter and a bag belonging to the suspect was discovered inside the house. It was packed with valuables stolen from the home. The house was broken into three times over the last three days. Locked doors leading into rooms were also damaged. The same suspect is believed to have been targeting the home.

The 41-year-old Trenance Park – KZN resident was placed under arrested and handed over to the Verulam SAPS.
