During the high-density operation Shanela (Kukula) conducted between Monday, 09 December and Sunday, 15 December 2024, across five districts of Limpopo, a total of 712 suspects were arrested for various crimes, including murder, attempted murder, robbery, assault, rape, carjacking, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, possession of suspected stolen property, drug trafficking, and human trafficking.
In addition to the arrests, the operations also led to the recovery of seven unlicensed firearms, 26 live rounds of ammunition and three stolen vehicles.
These operations involved a variety of activities, including stop-and-search procedures, roadblocks, the tracing of wanted suspects, and the raiding of liquor premises.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has commended the efforts of the police officers and their ongoing collaboration with other role players and community members in combating crime. She highlighted the importance of these actions in ensuring a safer festive season for all.
