Over one hundred-and-fifty vehicles stopped and forty mini buses impounded during an operation in the Edleen area

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Northern Region Officers, in conjunction with the South African Police Services (SAPS) and Gauteng Traffic Police, conducted an operation on ” Public Transport ” at Zuurfontein and Allandale Road, in the Edleen area.

The operation was to focus on educating motorists, conducting inspections on vehicles that are unroadworthy and conducting crime prevention. Officers managed to stop and search over one hundred and fifty vehicles and during the operation, a motorist was arrested for reckless and negligent driving, as they failed to stop at a roadblock, when instructed by a police officer. 

Also a total number of forty minibus taxis, were impounded, following failing to produce a road transport permit and other various offences.

Our Officers will be on the ground 24/7, as these operations will continue throughout the city to ensure and maintain safety.
