The District Commissioner, Major General Lindelwa Vellem was pleased with her charges, after several Safer Festive Season Operations yielded positive results and managed to prevent road fatalities in the Joe Gqabi District during the past three days including Christmas Day.
For the period between 24 and 26 December 2024, police targeted three major roads and manned roadblocks. Motorists were fined for contravening the Road Traffic Act totalling R63 300-00.
The operations included visits to spaza shops and the second-hand goods. Eleven (11) suspects who were wanted for various crimes were nabbed during a suspect raiding operation by the detectives. . A 19-year-old teenager was also nabbed for selling dagga in Burgesdorp.
