Lejweleputswa, Free State – A motor vehicle accident occurred on the N1, approximately 30 kilometers from Winburg to the tollgate, on January 3, 2025, at 13:05. The collision involved a Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) and a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel responded to the scene, where they triaged six patients. Fortunately, all patients sustained minor injuries and were treated on the scene. No patients were transported to the hospital.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) was on the scene to investigate the cause of the accident. EMS and rescue personnel were also present to assist. A towing service and cleanup crew were required to remove the damaged vehicles and clear the scene.
Fortunately, the accident did not cause any significant disruptions to traffic, with normal traffic flow maintained. There were no reports of road closures or fuel spills.
