Durban Metro Police Service members conducted an intelligence-driven joint operation within the Umlazi Township area. The operation commenced at 22h00, targeting a house in the M Section of Umlazi. Upon searching the premises, an unlicensed firearm and ammunition were discovered in possession of the suspect.
A further licensed firearm was also found on the premises; however, it was not stored safely. One suspect was arrested and detained at Umlazi SAPS, without sustaining any injuries.
Total estimated value of recovered exhibits: R40,000.00.
Charges:
1. Unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm.
2. Unlawful possession of ammunition.
3. Failure to safely store a firearm.
Exhibits Recovered:
1. One (1) x black 9mm pistol with the serial number filed off.
2. One (1) x black 9mm pistol with serial number ADE375027.
3. Forty (40) live rounds of ammunition.
