While on duty alongside members of the EMPD Tactical Unit, Gauteng Traffic Police SLEU and Gauteng Traffic Wardens SLEU received a tip-off about a suspect involved in the sale and possession of illicit cigarettes in the Moriting section, Tembisa.
Acting swiftly on the information, the officers conducted a search and found the suspects in possession of illicit cigarettes. Further investigations revealed additional violations, including contravening the Immigration Act. One suspect also attempted to bribe the officers to evade arrest.
The suspects were apprehended for possession of illicit cigarettes, contravention of the Immigration Act, and bribery.
