MEC for Transport and Community Safety Violet Mathye visited the family of the late Mr Netshidzivhani Mbulaheni Patrick who was attached to Mutale Traffic Station as a Senior Provincial Inspector.
Two suspects who are alleged to be behind the murder appeared in court and were remanded in custody.
Investigations by the members of the South African Police Service is still underway and they have not ruled out further arrests.
The MEC was accompanied by the Head of Department Mr Stephen Matzjena, Chief Director Traffic Ms Mulaudzi Jane,District Director Advocate Mamphiswana and traffic officials from Vhembe District.
The MEC gave comforting words to the bereaved family by reminding that God shall always be with them during this difficult times.
