Two suspects to appear in court for dealing in drugs

Partnership policing proved to be successful when police members responded to information received from community members and in the process successfully recovered a consignment of drugs and a stolen motor vehicle on Wednesday 22 January 2025.

Malmesbury police responded to information indicating that a Nigerian national was travelling to Malmesbury to deliver a consignment of drugs. The members monitored the area and spotted the suspicious woman who fitted the description, near a shopping complex. The members approached the woman and escorted her to the SAPS office where a thorough search was conducted. Upon searching her, the members discovered a bag containing a consignment of drugs and methamphetamine. They detained the 35-year-old woman on charges of dealing in drugs and contravening the Immigration Act.

In addition, police members of Makhaza pursued information of people busy dismantling a motor vehicle in NX informal settlement. The members drove to the address and entered the premises. Upon seeing the members approaching, the men fled in different directions with police members in pursuit on foot. The members detained one adult on a charge of possession of a presumed stolen motor vehicle.

The suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Malmesbury and Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Courts once charged.
