Two suspects arrested and firearms recovered in Tembisa

The police in Tembisa operationalised information about an individual in possession of unlicensed firearms at Madelakufa informal settlement.

Upon arriving at the identified shack, the occupant attempted to flee but was swiftly restrained and a search was conducted. A 9mm firearm with a filed off serial number and two replica firearms were recovered together with a jungle knife. The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and a dangerous weapon.

The suspect is expected to appear before Tembisa Magistrates court soon.

While in a similar but separate incident, members of Ekurhuleni Metro Police Task Team arrested a 38-year-old man in Endulwini Section, Tembisa after they have monitored his movements. The officers stopped the man and asked permission to search him. Upon the search, on his waist, a 9mm pistol with its serial number filed off with 04 rounds of live ammunition was found. The suspect tried to fight the officials but was restrained and arrested.
