Throughout Gauteng, Rapid Response Services, which included the SAPS Flying Squad, K9 Units, and Highway Patrol members, arrested 123 suspects, recovered 30 vehicles, and seized six firearms between Friday, January 31, and Thursday, February 6, 2025.
Members engaged in a range of focused operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts, and thorough patrols throughout Gauteng, resulting in 42 arrests for serious offenses including assault common and GBH, possession of suspected stolen property, malicious damage to property, contravention of protection order, theft, domestic violence, fraud, reckless and negligent driving, assault on police officer, shoplifting, common robbery, housebreaking, illegal trading of wildlife, possession of illicit cigarettes, possession of precious metals, sexual assault, contravention of the Immigration Act, trespassing, murder and armed robbery.
A total of 30 stolen and hijacked motor vehicles were recovered and 14 arrests for the possession of these vehicles. 06 arrests and the recovery of 06 illegal firearms were made.
61 more people have been arrested for the possession of and dealing in drugs. Heroin, dagga, cocaine, mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among drugs confiscated in these separate incidents.
Investigation continues.
The suspects will be appearing in the local Magistrate’s Courts across Gauteng.
