Just after 11:00, the Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit team received a call for a patient who fell an estimated 8 meters onto concrete.
While on route, we received the update that the patient went into Cardiac Arrest, and bystanders have started with CPR.
Emergency services arrived on the scene shortly after, and advanced cardiac life support rescusitation protocols were implemented.
After almost 20 minutes, the team managed to get ROSC (return of spontaneous circulation), and the patient had a strong pulse again.
The patient was rapidly transported to a nearby hospital under Advanced Life Support care.
Knowing basic first aid and CPR can save the life of a loved one.
Thank you to Emer-G-Med (Pty) Ltd , ER24 EMS (Pty) Ltd. , Pretoria Volunteer Emergency Services , and Brinant RTU for assisting on the scene.
