Help identify two males who can assist Free State Anti-Corruption police with investigation

The Free State Provincial Anti-Corruption Unit is requesting public assistance in identifying two unidentified males whose images are attached to this media statement. These individuals may have information that could assist in the ongoing investigation into cases of kidnapping, theft, common assault, corruption, fraud and extortion reported in Heilbron.

Two police Sergeants from the Fezile Dabi Trio Task Team have already been arrested in connection with the case. Sergeant Petrus Seeco (41) was arrested on 26 February 2025 and Sergeant Makhetha Mpeka (43) was arrested on 28 February 2025. Both officers were arrested on execution of warrants of arrest by instruction of the DPP and have appeared in court. Their case has been postponed to 07 March 2025 for a formal bail application.

On 11 January 2024, at approximately 08:20, four men, identifying themselves as police officers, allegedly entered a shop in Heilbron. The shop owner was reportedly searched, and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from his pocket. Additionally, cigarettes were confiscated, and the victim was assaulted before being transported approximately 10 kilometres outside Heilbron, where he was abandoned on the roadside. Further allegations suggest that the victim’s brothers were defrauded of an undisclosed amount of cash under the pretence of securing his release.

Two additional suspects have been identified and remain at large. Police are actively detecting the individuals.

Anyone with information on their identities or whereabouts is urged to contact Detective Sergeant Tebogo Seekoei of the Anti-Corruption Unit at 060 981 1458.
