An 18-year-old boy was executed after he was accused of taking pictures of a mob in search of suspects in Amaoti – KZN.
A mob consisting of approximately eighty men armed with pangas, golf clubs, traditional weapons and firearms were searching for suspects responsible for a spate of murders and robberies in the area. They also allegedly set alight two homes belonging to gangsters.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for medical assistance for an 18-year-old boy who had been shot by individuals within the mob. Reaction Officers and RUSA Paramedics were immediately dispatched and arrived on scene at approximately 11:59.
The teenagers body was located in his yard. He had been shot in the body and head. He showed no signs of life and was declared deceased. His elder brother is also believed to have been shot and hacked with a panga. He fled and cannot be located.
The deceased’s family informed Reaction Officers that the siblings were seated in the yard when the mob was passing.
The group accused the brothers of taking pictures of them.
They began assaulting them and shot dead the teenager.
