The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has successfully seized goods valued at over R500 000 during a recent operation.
While conducting a routine foot patrol yesterday, 17 March 2025, along the Limpopo River, Platoon 1 of Bravo Company, stationed in Musina, observed a group of individuals loading large carrier bags into a white Toyota Quantum panel van, which was concealed in nearby bushes. Upon noticing the presence of the soldiers, the suspects abandoned the bags and fled across the border into Zimbabwe.
A subsequent inspection revealed the items inside the bags to be 10 Master boxes of Remington Gold Cigarettes, valued at R218 520 by Customs authorities. In addition, the Toyota Quantum panel van, valued at R450 000, was confiscated
due to its involvement in the illicit operation. The total value of the seized goods amounts to R668 520.
Colonel Dikgabane Herold Tladi, Officer Commanding the Joint Tactical Headquarters Limpopo, commended the team for their successful interception of the illegal goods.
