An operationalised detective’s information by the Tactical Response Team through detective’s thorough investigation into the murder of a 44-year-old man of Khamu locality, Nenga A/A , who was gunned down whilst asleep in his house on 10 March 2025 at about 20H30 led to the arrest of four male suspects aged between 50 and 69 from Mqanduli different localities (Mancam, Khohlo, Xhorana )The suspects were arrested on Tuesday, 18 March 2025 and Wednesday,19 March 2025.
Two male suspects aged 50 and 57 were found in possession of unlicensed firearms whilst a licensed firearm was found from a 60-year-old suspect, all three firearms will be taken for ballistic tests so as to determine if they are directly linked to the crime scene. All our male suspects have been charged for murder and added charges for two, being possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and will all appear before Mqanduli Magistrate Court on Thursday, 20 March 2025 facing their respective charges.
OR Tambo District Commissioner, Major General Norman Modishana lauded all police members involved in the arrests and recovering of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. “Police will intensify their fight in dealing with all those involved in all hineous crimes that continue to threaten our communities, killing the innocent with illegal firearms, said Major General Modishana.
