At approximately 14:25, KZN VIP Control Centre received a panic alarm activation from a property in the Redfern area, Phoenix. Upon contacting the keyholder, it was reported that there was a suspect on the property. KZN VIP Response Officers were immediately dispatched to the location.
Upon arrival, KZN VIP Response Officers made contact with the homeowner, who explained that while she was outside, she noticed a male suspect, described as an Indian male wearing a brown shirt and blue shorts, fleeing the property after being disturbed by her presence.
KZN VIP Response Officers conducted a thorough search of Redfern and surrounding roads. The suspect was located at the corner of Fernham and Barkfern and was swiftly apprehended.
Further investigation revealed that the same suspect was positively identified in connection with a theft at Lakestone Place, Whetstone.
The suspect was handed over to SAPS for further processing.
