The Phoenix SAPS, in collaboration with the local CPF (Community Policing Forum), CIB (Community in Blue), and supported by private security agencies, conducted a successful crime prevention operation aimed at addressing the rising number of robberies in the area.
Before commencing the operation, a debriefing session was held with all involved stakeholders to ensure a coordinated and effective approach. The operation focused on high-risk areas identified for increased criminal activity, particularly around the Phoenix Plaza park and the stream along Phoenix Highway – known hideouts for criminals.
In an effort to deter crime, KZNVIP, alongside other private security forces and CPF members, patrolled these key areas, walking the perimeter of the park and checking abandoned buildings and sports ground change rooms for any
signs of criminal activity.
As part of the operation, multiple stop-and-search procedures were carried out on suspicious individuals. Notable successes included the recovery of municipal cables, housebreaking implements, and drugs. The increased police and
security visibility in the area proved effective in deterring potential criminal behavior.
The Cpf/Cib together with KZNVIP and other law enforcement agencies remains dedicated to fighting crime through collaboration, proactive policing, and the involvement of community stakeholders. Further operations of this nature will be planned in the coming weeks to continue combating crime in the area.
