The vigilance of Oudtshoorn SAPS members to pursue a suspicious motor vehicle resulted in the confiscation of drugs estimated at R97 000 and the apprehension of four suspects who find themselves behind bars following a vehicle chase.
On Tuesday, 01 April 2025 at about 22:45 Oudtshoorn police members conducted patrols along Johan Gelderblom Street, Oudtshoorn when a vehicle with the suspects suddenly sped off. A vehicle chase ensued when the members noticed that the occupants threw a parcel out of the moving vehicle. The vigilant members caught up with the vehicle and upon inspecting the parcel, found 1943 mandrax and 27 halve tablets. A further search led to the seizure of an undisclosed amount of cash found in the possession of the occupants. The members confiscated the find and arrested the four occupants on a charge of dealing in drugs each.
The suspects aged 20, 34, 35 and 40, believed to be from George, remain in police custody. They will make their first appearance in the Oudtshoorn Magistrates’ court once charged.
These arrests and confiscations forms part of ongoing endeavours to eradicate the illicit drug trade and rid vulnerable communities of drugs.
