The SAPS detectives attached to the Nelson Mandela Bay District Intervention Task Team arrested a suspect on charges of murder after a shooting incident at the taxi rank in Central on Monday 31 March 2025.
On 31 March 2025 at about 16:45 SAPS Humewood was alerted to a shooting incident at a taxi rank next to Brister House, Govan Mbeki Avenue, Central. It is alleged that a 44-year-old taxi driver was standing near his taxi when two unknown males with their faces covered approached him. The one suspect wearing a black hoodie took out a firearm and fired multiple shots at the deceased before they fled down a side street towards Strand Street on foot.
During the investigation the detectives identified one of the suspects involved in the murder of Ansley Agulhas (44) and was arrested at the taxi rank in Govan Mbeki Avenue, Central on charges of murder.
The suspect (26) will appear in the Gqeberha magistrate court on 16 April 2025.
