NELSPRUIT – The Police in Siyabuswa made a breakthrough on two murder cases.
According to a report, in February 2025, a Missing Person’s file was registered at Siyabuswa SAPS after Mr Josias Masanabo disappeared. His sister, Ms Nobanyazile Rosina Masanabo (69) alerted the Police about it. Within the same month of February, Ms Nobanyazile Rosina Masanabo was found dead in one of the backrooms of her residence, and as a result an inquest docket was opened to probe the cause of her death.
An investigation was carried out by the Siyabuswa Detectives where few people were interviewed and it was during this probe that evidence emerged and led to the arrest of Ms Flatty Skosana (45), the daughter of Nobanyazile Rosina Masanabo. Skosana was identified as a suspect and it is alleged that she orchestrated the murder of her mother as well as her uncle, Josias Masanabo, whose body was found buried in the bushes at Kwamhlanga. His body was retrieved and identified as Josias Masanoba. It was during this time when a murder case, with an additional charge of defeating the ends of justice, was registered.
The motive for the two murders forms part of Police investigation.
The investigation is still ongoing and Police cannot rule out the possibility of more arrests.
The suspect was arrested on 09 April 2025 and charged for murder and defeating the ends of justice.
On 11 April 2025, the suspect appeared at the Siyabuswa Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 11 April 2025. The case was postponed to 22 April 2025. The investigation is still ongoing.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr.) Zeph Mkhwanazi, has expressed his appreciation to the team of investigators for their relentless pursuit of uncovering the truth about the death of the two siblings. The General further commended members for the arrest of the suspect.
