Two suspects, a male aged 42 and a female aged 36 were arrested for murder of a 72-year-old pensioner

A 72-year-old pensioner, Makubung Mohomotsa Gisbon, was reportedly hijacked, kidnapped and robbed of his valuables while entering his home at Mphanama Magagamatlala Apel policing precinct on 23 March 2025 at around 22:00 and later died as a result.

The victim was driving his motor vehicle a silver Toyota RunX when he was hijacked and, kidnapped by unknown suspects. The matter was reported at Apel SAPS. The case was immediately transferred to the Provincial investigating unit. A manhunt was activated to locate the victim. After two days of tireless efforts, the victim was found in the bushes with severe body injuries next to his car. His valuable items were missing. He was rushed to the nearest hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on the 1st of April 2025.

The alleged suspect, Molatudi Mossion Marwale, aged 42, was arrested and already appeared at Sekhukhune Magistrate’s court on 28 March 2025. He was remanded in police custody.

The investigation led to the arrest of the deceased’s daughter,aged 36. The two will appear before Sekhukhune Magistrate’s court on Tuesday 22 April 2025, facing charges of car hijacking, kidnapping, murder and robbery.

The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe applauded the Provincial Investigations Unit and Provincial Tracking Team for leaving no stone unturned.

Investigations are continuing at this stage.
