A 44-year-old male suspect is set to appear before Modimolle Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 22 April 2025, following his arrest for kidnapping and attempted murder of a 42-year-old woman in Modimolle extension 10.
Preliminary investigations revealed that on the 24 December 2024 at around 18:00, the suspect came from work in Mpumalanga province and found the victim at home. The victim went to fetch water at her neighbours and the suspect followed her, and started to assault her.
Reports further suggested that the suspect drove with her to Gauteng Province in Soshanguwe, assaulting her all the way. He subsequently locked her inside the vehicle boot. The vehicle apparently got had a breakdown along the away to Swartdam and it was abandoned and that was when the victim managed to escaped
A case of kidnapping and attempted murder was registered at Modimolle.
On Friday, 07 February 2025, a warrant of arrest (J50) was issued, and Modimolle Detectives received information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect.
On Wednesday, 16 April 2025, members of Modimolle Detectives received the information about the suspect, who was from Pretoria to Modimolle in Limpopo Province.
The same day at around 18:00, the suspect was located and arrested along R101 road to Modimolle by Modimolle Detectives, Waterberg District Flying Squad, together with RIU private security company.
The suspect will appear before Modimolle Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 22 April 2025 on charges of kidnapping and attempted murder.
